Goals Start With Decisons
Where do goals originate? Does having a thought or a day dream constitute a goal? Many go through life never really setting any goals and just wander aimlessly through life waiting for some unseen force or God to provide for them. It’s such a shame to see so much wasted talent.
I’ve heard people whine and complain about not having any good fortune and even blame higher forces for not providing for them. Yet they never seem to take responsibility for their own lives. It’s never their own fault, always some other person or circumstance. Did they ever even shoot for something? Did they ever set a goal? Was it not them making the decisions in their life?
Setting goals really boils down to making a decision, that’s where a simple thought becomes a goal. So are all decisions goals? No, we may decide to butter our toast or wear a particular pair of jeans, and although those decisions could play some part in the Universes grand scheme they are not goals.
Good goals are plans or intentions that make our palms sweat, make us nervous or give us butterflies when we think of them. When we allow ourselves to dream big and truly consider that anything is possible, we set in motion a series of events that can change our lives. This is our way of getting clear on what it is we really want. Once we’re clear on what it is we want and can see it in our mind, then we start to make decisions based on getting to that outcome. As we continually re-affirm to ourselves that we can have it and can make it happen or even better, that it is already in the process of coming to our present reality, then we start acting in such a way that will bring about those results.
Lets look at making money. Most people believe that the only way they can make money is to have a job. So they find a job and go to work every day and put in their hours in exchange for a paycheck. They have a limiting belief that it is the only way to make money and because they don’t see an obvious alternative they just accept it and so it is their current reality and remains that way until they decide to change or other circumstances pop up, usually making it worse.
Then there’s the 3% of people who know the true secret, that they can have anything they put their minds to. They “decide” they are going to find another way to make money. When they believe this with all their hearts and persist without exception they start to see results. They may get a great idea for a business or an invention, they may find a business opportunity or a stock tip to invest in. They may even discover they have a talent for something and turn that into a lucrative endeavor such a singing, painting or computer skills. The history books are filled with thousands of such people. The proof is all around us, without these people we’d still be living in caves and hunting with out bare hands and rocks. It took visionaries and people committed to their dreams and goals to create the inventions, pass laws, entertain, compete in sports and so on.
The point I’m making here is that we all have the ability to think and we all have talents, skills, and dreams that we can use. Only through deciding to set a goal or intention will we ever make progress. I realized after 20 years in the corporate world as a drone that I had talents and a creative mind that could be put to better use. I saw all kinds of other people having success with a home business which meant so could I if I intended it. So I did, I made it my goal to get successful with my own business working from home because I wanted to be with my family more. It was not just as easy as imagining it but once I belived it, things started to line up and before I knew it I was actually doing it. I released myself from my job and now enjoy the life I always dreamed about, home everyday, free to do whatever I want and enjoying every minute of it while making a lot more income than I ever could have made working a job.
The point is, how will you ever know if you are getting closer or further away from what you want unless you set a benchmark, a goal or intention? We are all capable of so much more, it’s up to us to make it a reality and it starts with goals. Dream big!

What Was Your Childhood Dream?
Ever thought back to when you were a kid and what you wanted to be when you grew up? What was your passion? Why didn’t you follow that dream?
It actually took me a while to remember it was that I wanted to be. After some soul searching I finally remembered that I wanted to be many things over a period of time. First I wanted to be an astronaut, then a pilot and eventually an artist – I loved drawing and creating things as a kid.
The question was, “What stopped me?” What stops any of us from following our dreams? I figure it’s because of our limiting beliefs and our excuses. Where do we get those? They come from our parents, our friends, our peers, our teachers… basically our environment and the people we surround ourselves with in life. It’s all how we’re programmed.
We hear or start believing things that conflict with where we want to go in life. Let’s face it we are all dreamers as kids but as we get older we’re told to “grow up”, “be more mature” or “that’s unrealistic, you can’t make a living doing that”. So, many of us abandon our dreams for more “practical” goals and aspirations.
Why didn’t I become an astronaut? Because Canada didn’t have a space program and I would never get into NASA in the United States so that was gone. Excuse number one. I couldn’t become a pilot because I was told pilot schools cost a fortune and were none where I lived so that too was ruled out. Excuse number two. I didn’t become an artist because I was told I could not make a living on it and I’d never make it. Excuse number three, I was out! So I went on to school without direction and took the first decent paying job that came along to pay the bills. Just what I always wanted to do, work in a call center, taking call after call with no end in sight.
I realize now that I have to take full responsibility for my not getting to where I wanted to go. I could have found ways around those obstacles. I didn’t have to take those peoples’ word for it, they weren’t experts. They likely just told me that because they too gave up on their own dreams. I could have persisted and followed my passion. We’ve all heard the dramatic tales of those who overcame not just one obstacle but many. In fact I’ve heard some stories of people with physical or even mental challenges overcome huge odds to follow their calling and are now the best in their field. So don’t buy the excuses, everyone can achieve anything they desire, it’s simply a matter of getting clear and following your dreams regardless of the obstacles. It’s those who find the ways around them that succeed.
The best part is that it’s never too late. I’ve rekindled my passion for art and am having a blast learning new techniques to create, including digital art on my computer; they weren’t around when I was a kid. I’m happier now more than I’ve ever been. I’m doing what I love and I am finding creative ways to incorporate my art into my business, which makes both that much more fun. When you love what you do you will be successful. Always follow your dream because like a great man once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” And that was said by one of the biggest dreamers ever – Walt Disney.

Why Would I Read The Paper?
The funniest thing happened to me yesterday. I came home from an appointment and found an odd item at the bottom of my driveway. Upon closer examination I found it to be a newspaper. Now that’s odd because I don’t read the news paper, so why was it here?
I picked it up not really giving it any more thought, than I just found kindling to start my campfire. The funny part was later that day I received a call from the newspaper publisher asking if I’d received my complimentary sampling. They proceeded to ask me if I enjoyed it. Of course my immediate reply was, “No, I had not looked at it as I don’t read the newspaper ever”. When I heard the quiet pause I knew right away I could have some fun with this.
The kind woman came back and asked again if I’d opened it up and read any part of it. So I explained to her that I was not inclined to do so as I don’t read any kind of mainstream media, no newspapers, no radio and no television. She gasped in total disbelief. Her next question was obvious – “why not”? So I took the opportunity to enlighten her, that there was very little positive content in such media especially the newspapers, who are in my opinion, the worst offenders of negative propaganda.
After another pause I could tell she was completely stumped. It’s as if I’d explained an alien concept. In doing my best to hold back my laughter, I thought, “well I’m still alive so it can’t be that important as I’ve not read any for over 20 years!”
Being a student of personal development I’ve recognized the value of feeding our minds with worthwhile information. Don’t get me wrong I love watching movies and documentaries, but I will not watch TV just to waste time. In fact there are occasional worthwhile television shows to watch, such as “Think You Can Dance” that depicts people following their dreams by developing their passions. The point here is I can be selective of what I watch and read. Rather than read newspapers, I read books on personal development, autobiographies of famous people and touching stories that inspire me. I learn about our planet by watching documentaries like “Planet Earth” produced by the BBC that shows the true beauty of this magnificent planet we all inhabit.
So why would I ever want to read the newspaper and pollute my mind with such meaningless information that is only reported on to bring shock value and make more sales. No thanks, I’d much rather read a book. Needless to say, I thanked the caller and suggested she contact me when the newspapers change their ways and report on all the good and abundance in our world. I can always hope.

If You Could Meet Your Self
Ever thought about what it would be like to be minding your own business when suddenly you bump into someone that seems awfully familiar, hey wait a second it’s you 10 years younger! After you get over the initial shock you start to converse and before you know it your past self is asking you about how your life is right now. Think back 10 years, were things better or worse. Let’s assume your current self is doing better now and you have some advice to give your past self, what would that be? I’ll bet it would be very helpful to your past self to know such things. In fact just seeing your current self with the life you have gives a sense of relief and hope that the dark times will come to an end and things will improve.
Now take that scenario and project it forward. In your current life, you run into your future self, wow, what would you ask? Let’s assume once again your future self in the perfect life where you’re looking great, fit and healthy. You’re wealthy with your financial picture exactly as you’d imagined it. You have everything you wanted, a beautiful home or two, a healthy and happy family with lots of time to enjoy with them. You vacation frequently to all the best places and stay at the finest hotels with tours to every imaginable site. You’re doing exactly what you love and are calm and relaxed because you’ve got it made. What kind of advice would your future self offer you now?
Perhaps something profound about your choices and your decision-making thought processes. Maybe you’d be told – “take more risks, live life in the moment in fact live every day as if it were your last” – “that’s what I did and look where it got me – your perfect life”.
Now that would be something to reflect on. I believe that we create our own lives by design – it starts with the way we think. When we think about the same things over and over again we form beliefs. We speak about and act on those beliefs and the results create our circumstances. Let’s face it look at any circumstance in your life, I’ll bet you could trace it back to a specific decision or even thought, that had you changed the outcome would be far different. The only thing we need to do to start really living the life of our dreams is change our thinking to be more about what we “do want” instead of what we “don’t want“. As we take this pro-active approach we in fact start setting things in motion to create it. We don’t have to understand it all, just think, believe and act as if it were already so.
When we get in a car to go to a destination we don’t have to understand the mechanical engineering of a motor to get there, we just have to think about where we want to go, believe we will get there and act by driving there. Our lives are exactly the same. Devote more time to reflecting on what your ideal future self would tell you if you ran into him or her today! The results may just amaze you.

What Do You Really Deserve?
In my line of work I often come across people who want the better lifestyle, the wealth, time and fun they’ve dreamed of for so long. Only thing is most of them don’t believe they deserve it, and that’s exactly why they don’t get it. There’s nothing stopping them except themselves.
I’ve been able to assist many people in creating a new lifestyle through personal development and mentoring, it’s what I do for a living. It’s those who know that they do in fact deserve to have success that prosper. You see, everyone wants more abundance in their lives, that’s no secret, but there’s something holding them back. There could be countless reasons in fact, although I believe it all comes down to a poor self image and “deserve-ability” issues. Perhaps something happened in their childhood, they were lazy or all thumbs and couldn’t get a skill just right. This causes them to create a limiting belief that some how they’re not worthy to reap the rewards of success. Now I’m not a psychologist or have any real training in that field but I have been an avid student of personal development and empowerment for several years now. I see the same patterns over and over. In fact I first identified them in myself not so long ago. That was a pivotal moment in my life when things drastically changed for me.
We all deserve to be happy, to be wealthy, to have fun experiences, travel and explore… yet we have something in our heads saying, “no you’ve not worked hard enough” or “your ideas are not good enough”. That’s just negative self talk that’s propagated by society and a false sense of our own true abilities. Not enough of us believe we deserve better. It’s funny, we never ask ourselves if we deserve sunlight or fresh water or heat or even clean air to breathe. Yet we all enjoy them without ever questioning it. These are all merely things in different energy forms. Wealth is no different it’s just a concept that takes different forms – bills, coins, precious metals or numbers on a bank statement. Ultimately it’s just an idea that you have more trading power. Think about it, before there was currency in the world we traded goods to get what we wanted. We established a “value” for something and then agreed upon a trade. In today’s world it’s no different we have an agreed upon value for our currency and albeit a twisted value for our services, although the latter does not seem to be debatable too much at least in the “job” world. We make trades, we negotiate deals we even agree upon a price for a chunk of our lives in exchange for a salary. It’s a whole other story as an entrepreneur, but I’ll save that for another time.
The point I’m making is that we do so deserve to be happy and to feel fulfilled. If we deserve to experience sunlight and water and clean air, then we deserve to feel the energy of abundance, wealth and prosperity. Life is meant to be an adventure, fun, enjoyable and just feel good. We all have desires whether it be for experiences, things or relationships – they all equate to the “feelings” those people, experiences or things create within us. As far as we know we are the only species on the planet that does things for enjoyment. Every other living thing does what they do out of instinct or just following the blueprint set in nature. But we are unique in that we can FEEL! I believe that means something – that we are here to truly feel, and we do that through our experiences.
I feel great when I can make a difference in someones life by showing them just how to create wealth and true freedom in their lives with what I do (www.CreateAbsoluteFreedom.com). When someone can go from a point of despair in their lives to a point of hope, belief and prosperity by simply changing their perspective – that’s rewarding. So feel good and know that we all deserve happiness in whatever form it comes in. You can change it, just get out of your own way.

Overcome To-Do-List Mania!
We have all fallen prey to this trap of creating endless lists of things that need to be done. It starts with the best of intentions, “I don’t want to forget this” or “it will speed up my productivity”. However, then the lists get longer and longer. That’s when things start to get out of control. It can happen so many different ways – we start by becoming dependent on the list to replace our own memory, write every single little thing down. We add huge things to our list that actually cause us to feel weighed down and keep us from moving forward. Before we know it the list is a mile long. There is a solution though, and it’s simpler than you think.

Does it ever stop growing?
You see, I was a chronic “list builder”. I would have lists of things to do today, this week, this month, this year… I had lists for personal tasks as well as business tasks. I even had lists for my lists. The problem was that my lists kept growing and growing. They never seemed to get smaller. Even when I’d accomplish a task I’d add three. There in itself lied the major problem, I was procrastinating on doing the biggies. I’d do quick things that I could knock out without too much effort. Yet I still dreaded reading my 6 page lists, in fact it made me down right sick.
That’s when I heard about “eating the biggest frog first”. The saying was basically that if you get up each morning and the first thing you do is eat a live frog, nothing worse can happen for the rest of the day. Brian Tracy says “that your frog should be the most difficult task on your to do list, the one you’re most likely to procrastinate on”. I took this very seriously and reflected on it. It is true that if you leave the most mundane, difficult or distasteful tasks till later, they’ll loom over you all day and actually drain your energy. You are more likely to put them off indefinitely than get them done, or worse remove them from the list with a guilty conscience.
If on the other hand you get it done first you feel great for having accomplished something big and you feel empowered. You can move forward feeling good and the rest of the things on your list suddenly seem simpler and more digestible. I’ve now put this method into practice and only put things on my list that are absolutely required to be done. I leave the mundane things off as they’ll get done when they get done. This leaves only important tasks and I do the most challenging ones first. I’ve actually gotten so much more done this way and feel great at the end of the day for being so productive. I get way more free time to enjoy and my memory is also improving.
Being a self employed entrepreneur that works from home I have to be disciplined and make sure I get my work done in order to have the results I want. This has proven to be life changing for me and yet it was such a simple adjustment to my daily routines. I now actually only have two very small lists, one for my personal life and one for my business, I like to keep them separate even though I enjoy my business like a past-time. Eat your frog first and watch how much better life and your memory gets.

Job Trap Holding You Back From Prosperity?
Do you truly believe you are secure where you are in your job? I hear it all the time, people think they are safe in their jobs, when really it’s just a trap. Ask any of the auto workers that work for the big 3 if they feel that way. Come on, we all know that there is no guarantee in life especially in employment. So many people believe that as long as we have a steady pay check we’re okay. The fact of the matter is most employees these days don’t see huge increases in their wages especially in a so called “down economy”. In fact most employers these days are increasing the work load while decreasing the benefits and pay. Then there is always the threat of layoffs hanging in the air. Maybe the answer lies in taking your future into your own hands.
A funny thing happened to me the other day. As I was walking in the parking lot a friend of mine asked me about the signs on my car. I explained they were advertising for my home based business. He sarcastically asked why I advertise. I explained it’s what I do, “I show people how to make money working from home with their own business”. He looked a bit confused. His next question really made me laugh. He asked, “can you hire me?” I explained, I don’t hire employees, I work for myself and the last thing I want is employees. I used to be in management and the headaches of managing people was not worth it. I replied, “I don’t hire people but I could show you how to start your own business”. He laughed and said he just wanted more money, not to actually work.
As I drove away I pondered this for a while. Why would someone who works 80 plus hours a week at a job for meager pay want to stay doing that when they know they want more time freedom to do fun stuff and more money to enjoy life? Will he ever accomplish this staying where he is, doing what he is doing? How does he change this? Get a second or third job and use up even more of his time? Find a new job and start all over? Here’s an opportunity of a lifetime staring him right in the face and yet the old programming kicks in – “I don’t want to work, but I want the money”. So how is staying where he is working out?
It is not uncommon really, many people think that starting something new is scary or risky but is staying where you are, crossing your fingers any safer or less scary? Those few who do actually get to keep their jobs are not very content because they are not happy with what they are doing, or what they are making. While those who do get laid off or downsized are suddenly thrust into a job hunting scenario where nothing is sure and the stress is mounting while they scramble to pay their bills.
The smart thing to do would be start something you want to do in your spare time while still working and make a gradual transition to what you love. I’ve seen hundreds of people do exactly that, very successfully. While working their jobs, they start a business at home that they can fit into their schedule. They start learning the ropes and taking action. Before you know it they are having success and the profits start mounting. In a very short period of time they are making more money with their own home business, that they can afford to let go of their job. Now their business is already up and running with profits coming in at a fraction of the hours they used to be working. All this extra time can now be used to enjoy life and do the things they want to do. I know , because it is what I did and I love me for giving myself the chance to prosper. I shudder think what I’d still be doing if I had not.
Most people can’t even believe it when they ask me what’s new and I tell them about my latest traveling adventure. They grumble when their day sounds like the same hell they lived yesterday while I was out fishing or riding my motorcycle in the countryside. Working for myself means I get to work when I want, I make my own hours and do extremely well working just 3 to 4 hours a day 4 days a week. I’m home everyday with my family and get to be my own boss. But once again, rather than accept the proof that is right in front of them they prefer to believe in the negativity that there must be a catch or they just cannot do it too. How many of us have heard and believed the old saying, “If it is too good to be true it probably is.”? Although no one ever stops to think who is the one saying that? It’s not the successful entrepreneur like Donald Trump or Warren Buffet. These men know what it means to take bold action rather than sit and complain about life. They go out and create their success.
More people could be so much more prosperous if they simply stopped being so skeptical and took a bit of action.
“An open mind is like a parachute, it works best when open.”
How many ideas or opportunities have you missed simply because you were listening to old non-productive programming? There are so many ways out there to change your circumstances but you will only benefit from them when you allow yourself to look at it openly. What have you really got to lose? Except prosperity and a life.
